The court has received a taxonomy case that nobody asked for and everyone has an opinion on. The bowl approaches the bench.
RED CORNER
If a hot dog is a sandwich, cereal is a soup. Bowl, liquid base, solid components added in, eaten with a spoon. The only thing keeping cereal out of the soup category is breakfast culture, and breakfast culture is a recent invention. Soup is a shape, not a temperature.
BLUE CORNER
Soup is cooked. Cereal is poured. A category that includes both gazpacho and Cheerios is a category so broad it has stopped meaning anything. By this logic, a martini is a soup. Stop. Cereal is cereal. Soup is soup. Touch grass.
